Hi there! I’m an Early Communication Specialist and registered Speech & Language Therapist (Ireland: CORU Reg. SL015115) with over 30 years of experience. I love coaching parents around the world, and created Connection Kickstart™ system to support parents just like you — using evidence-based, up-to-date strategies that are effective, research-aligned, and easy to use in everyday life.

Gestalt Language Processing
Gestalt Language Processing
is a way some children naturally learn to communicate by picking up whole phrases or “chunks” of language, rather than building speech one word at a time. You might hear them use lines from songs, TV, or familiar routines at first. Some children also use what we call intonational scripts — using their voice with the rhythm and melody of conversation, even when the words aren’t clear yet. Others may copy language they hear clearly, but find it hard to use it in a back-and-forth conversation.
This style of language development is often seen in autistic children, but it is not exclusive to autism.
Over time, with the right support and meaningful interactions, these longer phrases begin to break down and become more flexible, helping the child express their own ideas in a way that feels natural to them.
The Connection Kickstart™ approach works with this natural style of learning, supporting children to develop language in a way that fits how their brain processes and organises communication — rather than trying to change it.
